Too Poor for COP 30? Too Bad!

Delegates to COP 30 are having to shell out an average of $1,500 a night for hotel rooms. In response, Brazil's president said those who can't afford it can just sleep outside and look up at the stars.
Such a flippant response from the man claiming this is the People's COP raises a serious question: who the hell is COP really for?
Developed nations will have no problem sending their delegates and lobbyists. But what of those from developing nations, the nations experiencing the brunt of climate change today?
As Belém struggles to create accomodation for the estimated 60,000 people set to attend the conference, do we need so many people there? I've argued for years COP has become a circus with far too many climate narcissists showing up for a photo op.
Now, Lula is commissioning cruise ships (CRUISE SHIPS!), love hotels, and schools to serve as accomodation. This, after parts of the Amazon were already felled for conference roadways. These are all just more black marks against a conference with its best days clearly behind it.
