If you think decolonisation ended a century ago, think again.
One of my more interesting roles at the UN was in decolonisation. To the shock of probably some of you, there are still 17 non-self governing territories around the world. This doesn't include territories that are only semi-autonomous, like Puerto Rico.
Decolonisation is a fascinating, and in some cases heartbreaking, missing piece of today's public affairs conversation. As we recognise the Week of Solidarity with Non-Self Governing Territories, I'd encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the fight for freedom still goes on.
